Lutron’s Sivoia QS shading solution was the perfect option for the new BlueSpeed AV office located in sprawling South Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sivoia QS Shades are located on both levels of the building and enhance the office in three main areas:
Energy Savings and Comfort
The Oklahoma sun is known to produce blistering temperatures and blinding light with over 230 days of sunlight each year, with some days exceeding 14 hours long. It was essential to have a shading system in place to control the environment for optimal productivity and comfort while avoiding overheating the space for lower energy costs.
Cohesive Look
The decision to add shading to the first floor came after the original design, but the shades were easy to retrofit. Now they retract beautifully behind a fabric-wrapped trim at the top of the window. Upstairs, a different approach was taken with a sleek pocket in the wall to accommodate the shades when raised. Two entirely different design executions provide the outside of the office with a unified look and feel.
Increased Security
Office employees can adjust their individual shades and lighting, as well as use a variety of programmed scenes to manage the entire building and promote safety. For example, when staff arrives in the morning between 5 and 7 a.m., the office system senses motion and executes the scene for starting the day—shades react based on the season, and all lighting, audio, and video elements activate to appropriate levels for waking up the building. This design ensures that the office runs only when needed, allowing staff to avoid walking through a dark building in the morning while fumbling to find the lights and shades to get started for the day.
