Elevating a Coach Van into a Premier Entertainment Space
The owner of this coach van enjoyed taking it to concerts, sports games, and dinners with friends and family but decided to kick it up a notch by tasking BlueSpeed AV with transforming it into the ultimate private entertainment space on four wheels. This process began by focusing on how guests interact with the van to create an experience that embodied simplicity, reliability, and an intrinsic “essence of pleasure” for those inside.
Initially, the coach van manufacturer had installed an automation system that required four remotes, and the owner could only turn features on in a specific order. This cumbersome design essentially required guests to go through a significant tutorial to use it; time better spent enjoying the van on the way to its destination.
One iPad is stationed between the two air ride captain chairs at the back of the vehicle and is perched on a LaunchPort to accommodate charging while still being detachable. Guests can use the tablet to select multiple sporting games and watch them simultaneously as a group, or they can choose different mood scenes programmed with playlist options, lighting levels, favorite TV channels, and more.
The van’s Lutron window coverings blend seamlessly with the van’s design and can lower as needed. The window treatment control allows guests to enjoy the amenities while still being able to navigate a dimmed cabin. The cool lighting produces the perfect vibe for guests to sip drinks from the wet bar while streaming music from favorite playlists. They can even view photos from their night out using their device’s Airplay function over the onboard WiFi. And if a guest doesn’t have Airplay on their phone, an audio jack is readily available to hardwire their device to stream content.
Plus, for extra convenience, the driving cockpit is independent of the guest quarters, but passengers can easily communicate with the driver via intercom between the onboard iPad and another tablet in the driver’s area.

Automation
The van is centralized with Savant automation backed by Apple’s iOS operating system, giving the van’s technology unparalleled usability and reliability. There are two iPads in the van: one for the driver and another in the back, mounted on a LaunchPort wall station. This setup allows the second iPad to be removable, making it easy to pass around if someone needs control from another chair.
Video and Audio Distribution
The van includes a comprehensive video and audio distribution system with three top-of-the-line Samsung TVs that can display different video feeds and switch between audio channels. The 4×4 HDMI Matrix is equipped with two DirectTV receivers and an Apple TV, which can be accessed on any of the three TVs. Additionally, it features auto-tuning satellite for DirectTV. An Autonomic Music Server also allows everyone inside to stream their favorite Pandora channels and personal playlists.
Shade Control
Lutron’s Serena Shades silently lower over windows, creating the ideal lighting mood while providing occupants with privacy, security, and protection from glaring outside light.
Custom Lighting for Scene Control
There are 5-6 LED fixtures controlled via relays. The lighting system is managed with a Lutron QS processor and repeater, along with a Lutron Connect Bridge. The crisp white lighting can change to blue for optimal media viewing and easy navigation within the guest quarters.
Onboard WiFi and Networking
The van possesses its very own WiFi network, ensuring strong connectivity on the go.

Additionally, we made sure that all systems could be remotely accessed for any necessary service check-ins.
